Chinese New Year

On the second day of Chinese New Year, my family and I went back to my dad's hometown, which is in Temerloh, Pahang. We used to spend Chinese New Year there before my grandparents passed away. Now, the house is pretty much empty. I miss how my grandfather sat on his favorite rocking chair with a cigarette in between his fingers. He passed away when I was.. I can't remember. 14? As for my grandmother, she passed away when I was 7. I vaguely remember how she fought cancer towards the end of her life. I wish I had the chance to get to know her better.

The blackboard my brother and I used to scribble on.

Wall of memories.

Found this in a drawer in the living room. I wonder how long it has been sitting in the drawer.

I was so surprised to see my baby photo in my grandparents' room. I didn't know they would actually frame it up and put it by their bed. I also found a wedding photo of my grandparents. I always think it is a very sweet thing to be able to grow old with someone whom you love very much.

When they were young and loving.

This is a wooden shop. It used to be one of my favorite places to hang out with my brother when we go back for Chinese New Year because it sold fire crackers and all kinds of candies and ice lollies! :D I still remember the old lady's face every time my brother and I walked into her shop. So serene, so lovely. It was not open the day I went there. I am not sure why though. It could be because it's Chinese New Year, or maybe the old lady's not here anymore, maybe she is somewhere in this world where my grandparents are right now.

Every second day of Chinese New Year, a lion dance troupe goes house to house to perform and collect red packets around the new village. This was one of my favorite times during Chinese New Year because I love lion dance. I haven't seen even one this year. :(

Now I am back to college after quite a long break. It is gonna be a super hectic month for me and the rest of the Student Council. We are busy preparing for the Orientation Ball that is around the corner. After the ball, a new council will take over and I will have focus on my studies already. It's my last semester. I have to do well.
